Castle Hills Elementary School Reviews

Very poor communication between principal and parents. I'm withdrawing my son and take him to another school.

I hate how the school pays little to no attention to children with special needs and are slow to test for any LD's. Not only that but trying to get a hold of anyone at that school is near impossible and they are very slow to respond. The Assistant VP is also a real piece of work with little regard for families needs. I withdrew my son to homeschool him, that is how horrible it was!!

Very poor communication between principal, vice principal, couselors, teachers and parents. Any issue concerning students is quickly brushed off as a problem with the student. Concern for student progress or degress is also addressed as a problem with the student. Principal avoids any meetings with parents regarding teacher issues and strict refusal to move students to different teachers even with this move is in the students best interest is the norm. Unfortunately, this new principal has moved this school from being all about the kids with a productive and inspiring environment into a very average school with the only concern being that she is happy and not that the children move on in life to love learning and are inspired to grow in their education.

Castle Hills Elementary School has wonderful programs to offer to our children. We have the Spanish, art, music and the Academic Enrichment Programs we have developed over the passed two years. Offering the chess club after school and the school newspaper club written by children from our own school! How about that! We also are having a wonderful play coming up this year and a talent show at the end of the year that our wonderful PTA group hosts every year. And let's not forget our fall carnival we had this passed year. So as you can see our school offers a wonderful healthy environment for our children. We also have a wonderful staff in the office and the teachers are just amazing! Also parents who are always helping.

Through parent involvement in our Academic Enrichment Committee, the school has brought back enriching activities that are often lost in the world of standardized testing -- a school newspaper (run by students), a school play, creative problem solving teams, Spanish enrichment, a science fair and the invention convention, along with monthly family fun nights.

Great parent Involvement. A very active PTA and an Academic Enrichment Committee made up of parents! My 1st grader is the third child that goes to this school, and they have all loved their school!

This is a year round school. The quality of the academic programs are good. Accelerated classes are abundant. Music, Art, and Sports are all well represented. The choir is fantastic. Parents are very involved.
