Jackson Middle School Reviews

I am very pleased with Jackson Middle School my daughter had an great experience . They are so active in the community! The teachers there are outstanding. I so far have had no worries about my daughter going there. No complaints either about this school.

Jackson Middle school had a parents week activity. I can counted with my fingers how many parents and grandparents got involved. Sometimes is not the school teachers, but the parents. I will change my son out of Jackson next school year, because I don't like the bad influence. Sad to said is not the teachers, but the parents.

Jackson is the best middle school i have ever seen! we have had so many good teachers and still continue their legacy! We even help the poor children in Africa! now you can't say we are a bad school, like one of the parents said 'we don't have the nicest facilities' but you know what, i have learned so much more than i would have at Saint Matthews, which was my original school before moving to Oak Meadow Elementary, because Saint Matthews was too uptight and they made us go to church twice a week! That made me loose interest in the curriculum. So over all, i love Jackson and its teachers (Especially Mr. Westermann, who sadly retired this year) But then again everybody loved him! so for all you parents thinking of not enrolling your kids in my school because you think it's 'bad'... your wrong. Thank you

I am surprised at these reviews of Jackson. This school is terrible. The environment is not safe by any means but hostile. The new principal can not even control the uniform policy much less the behavior of these children. My child transferred from a elementary school that was fanstastic and we are now removing him in an attempt to try and keep him from losing interest in an education. Their music program is great, but after six grade their education isn't very good. No motivation to do anything.

The staff is amazing from the helpful janitors/cafeteria workers to the kid-loving administration! They really take up for thier students with wonderful and unique events. They truly care about the success of each and every student on thier campus even after they leave JMS.

I have had 2 children go through Jackson Middle School. We moved out of District and did 'choice school' so my last child a 6th grader could have the same experience. As a parent, I am very pleased and my children think Jackson is the best! The band program is phenominal!

Our daughter is currently in 6th grade and could not feel more cared for or challenged. She has an AIM class that allows her to touch base with the same teacher each day. She feels safe and loves how friendly everyone is to her. For some reason Jackson is not looked upon as one of NEISD's top middle schools...We believe it is!

I have had 3 children go through Jackson, and one that just completed 6th grade. I have nothing but good things to say about Jackson, its teachers, coaches and administrators. Jackson may not have the fanciest facilities, but there is no comparison for the quality of education, nurturing and concern that they have received/experienced from all who are involved. I truly appreciate everyone at Jackson Middle School. M. Kilgore

Overall curriculum is challenging, there are a variety of clubs and organizations, the disipline is unreasonable at times, but the teachers care a lot and the principal means well. The councelors are also very helpful.

Teachers work hard to ensure students receive a safe and friendly learning environment. They are sensitive to the individual needs of the student population and are committed to their academic success.

My son has attended 6th and 7th grade, and will complete 8th grade. Jackson has very strong leadership, including administration and teachers. The principal, Mr. DeFosset, allows the teachers to maintain order in their classrooms, and he backs them up to provide them a sense of support. He listens to all, including parents, students, and teachers, and makes unbiased decisions. Academically, Jackson reaches all levels of ability, including Gifted and Talented programs. Jackson has a very strong band program, involving over half the student body. It regularly wins its yearly competitions. Jackson also has orchestra and other arts. Jackson provides for most sports, allowing for all to participate, regardless of ability, via A, B, and C teams. Jackson has strong parent involvement through PTA, and numerous volunteer hours. The PTA invoked uniforms, which has enhanced the no-nonsense attitude about negative behavior. I highly support and recommend Jackson Middle School.

The thing Jackson Middle school doesnt have is parent involvment in student activities, class work,or extracurricular activities. As a student of Jackson this is quite embarassing to say that my school does not participate in alot of competitions for band, orchestra,& theatre arts. Overall I'd have to say that my school lacks parent involvment. The only good thing I have to say is that they have good acedemic programs! Respectfully, Student from jackson
