My name is Baldemar Vargas, a self-taught artist living in San Antonio. As a young boy i grew up with art. Whether it was my dad sketching his cartoon characters to amuse us, my brother drawing and painting, my mom singing as she washed the dishes, or my grandfather the late Jesus "EL GALLITO" Casiano playing his accordion (regarded as an accordion pioneer in conjunto music). These people made art special to me.
I started out doing airbrush, watercolor, acrylic, and pen and pencil untill my brother Juan Jose Vargas an artist himself, suggested I try oils. I resisted at first, but I finally decided to take my brother up on his suggestion and I have been using oils ever since.
Mrs. Williams of San Antonio, Texas wrote:
Dear Baldemar, Thank you for the painting you did of Brandon! We have it up where we can see it many times a day and we are impressed with your talent!
Thank you, my family (especially my wife Linda) and friends for your support, most importantly, Thanks grandpa Casiano. I'll always remember the times i spent watching him, as he played his music.
